    French author Victor Hugo was born on this day in 1802. Hugo first achieved literary fame as a poet and is still considered among France’s greatest poets by many. Today he is better known for his novels, Les Miserables and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. His romantic works reflected his deep social and political concerns.
