    Jules Verne, the French science fiction pioneer, was born on this day in 1824.
    He wrote 55 books which made many predictions of future inventions like submarines, air and space travel. Books like Journey to the Center of the Earth, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Around the World in Eighty Days, From the Earth to the Moon and The Mysterious Island. His works have been translated 4223 times making Verne the second most-translated author of all time behind Agatha Christie.
