    American novelist and short story writer Mary Robison was born this day in 1949. Her novel Why Did I Ever won the Los Angeles Times Book Award. Her most recent novel is 1 DOA, 1 On the Way. Robison is considered a founder of the “minimalist” school of writing along with Ann Hempel and Raymond Carver.
